In January 2026, the Gavin Farrell Foundation hosted two Learning Communities, training a total of 49 clinicians in evidence-based PTSD treatments:
27 clinicians trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
22 clinicians trained in Written Exposure Therapy (WET)
““I am enormously grateful for the excellent consultation and training I have received in this program. I work in an outpatient clinic in a community setting with patients who have experienced immense psychological trauma and tend to have multiple diagnoses. CPT for PTSD is an effective treatment for traumatized patients because it addresses key problem areas without requiring people to directly revisit the entirety of their trauma. Equally helpful is that this treatment can be administered to patients with suicidality and other comorbidities. Seeing my patients’ trauma and mood symptoms improve with this treatment has made me more hopeful for them and increased their hope about living a fuller life. This training has made me a better Clinician.”

Israel Trauma Response Fund
The Gavin Farrell Foundation’s Israel Trauma Response Fund is closing Israel’s urgent PTSD treatment gap following the October 7 attacks and ensuing wars. In partnership with Cognetica and under the supervision of Dr. Danny Derby, the fund provides individualized Cognitive Processing Therapy to 100 high-need individuals, including survivors of terror, returned hostages and their families, and frontline responders.

September 2022 CPT Learning Community
The September 2022 CPT Learning Community trained 79 mental health clinicians access to CPT within agencies from Coordinated Behavioral Health Services and Coordinated Behavioral Care.
June 2022 CPT Learning Community
The June 2022 CPT Learning Community launched with 43 mental health clinicians from agencies with current CPT for PTSD programs including four agencies in New York State, four agencies in Texas, and two agencies that provide services to the Deaf community.
October 2021 CPT Learning Community
In October 2021, the Gavin Farrell Foundation sponsored a Learning Community in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD in partnership with Mark Sasvary, PhD, LCSW Chief Clinical Officer at Coordinated Behavioral Health Services, Inc. The Learning Community included 8 mental health agencies across the Hudson Valley region training 57 licensed mental health clinicians.
2019-2020
CPT Training at NYU Silver School of Social Work
In 2019-2020 the Gavin Farrell Foundation partnered with the New York University Silver School of Social Work through their Lifelong Learning office to offer comprehensive CPT training to licensed mental health providers and student trainees working in community-based settings in the metropolitan NYC area. Attendees of this program participated in a workshop + learning collaborative model, which included in-person workshops and weekly case consultations with a CPT expert to support their CPT delivery. As a result of this initiative, licensed clinicians working with under-resourced communities were able to provide first-line treatment to their clients with PTSD.
